Drowsy Driving Prevention: Road Safety and Traffic in Lancaster Ca.

LANCASTER-For residents residing in the city of Lancaster, each year, the National Sleep Foundation holds Drowsy Driving Prevention Week which takes place at the end of Daylight Saving Time.

The purpose of this yearly campaign is to lower the number of motorists who drive vehicles while sleep-deprived.

Everyone is encouraged to make it a priority of getting eight hours of sleep a night, & driving an automobile only when alert.

LANCASTER TRAFFIC

Here are more traffic updates for commuters in the Antelope Valley traveling, in the Northbound or Southbound I-5 direction.

As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA-USA will be installing the falsework (temporary structures) to support the construction of the new Weldon Canyon Rd. bridge.

What to Expect:

  • Full closure hours are 10 pm-4 am.
  • Mobilization and partial lane closures may start as early as 8 pm and continue through 6 am.
  • Full closures involve one direction of the I-5 being closed, with traffic maintained in the opposite direction.
  • Traffic management on City streets will be implemented to assist detour routes.
  • Advanced warning signage and detour signage will be posted along the route.
  • All lanes will reopen before peak traffic hours each morning.
  • The speed limit within the project corridor is 55 miles per hour.

Expected Dates of Closures:

  • Northbound I-5 directional closures
  • November 29 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • November 30 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 directional closures
  • December 1 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • December 5 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • Northbound or Southbound I-5 directional closures, contingency dates if needed
  • December 6 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • December 7 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • December 8 from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
