Los Angeles General Hospital to Become Homeless Housing Residence

LOS ANGELES-General Hospital has been vacant for fourteen years, but the 1.2 million square feet, Los Angeles County General Hospital will shortly become an affordable housing and treatment facility for the homeless, according to Los Angeles County., via the Los Angeles Times on December 1, 2022.

Construction for the $250 million renovation, is anticipated to commence in 2024., and will be funded by state and local funding to rebuild the facility into a “Healthy Village,” with housing, cognitive and medical healthcare, and social services, including arts resources, and neighborhood activities.  And in addition, a Restorative Care Village, spanning an 8-acre area for temporary and permanent housing.
