Man Rescued from the River in Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS-An adult male was witnessed plunging from the 6th Street Bridge down into the rolling water of the Los Angeles River, at 352 LA River, on March 19, at 11:00 a.m.

According to LAFD, The victim was carried by floating waters over three-quarters of a mile in the southbound direction, and passed under the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, but managed to flee the water, before reaching the Olympic Bridge.

The man suffered injuries, however, the extent of his injuries was not immediately released. The victim remained on the bank for the LAFD rescue team, which assessed, treated, and prepped him for medical transport. 

LAFD Air Ops airlifted the man and took him to a local trauma center. The initial response to this rescue was at 9:59 a.m.
