Mother Arrested For DUI, Manslaughter, 8-year-old Daughter Dies, After Temecula Collision

TEMECULA-A's deadly collision resulted in the death of an 8-year-old- girl, and seven others sustained multiple injuries, on State Route 79 at Anza Road, on Sunday, July 24, 2022, police say.

The child's mother identified as Jessica Nieto, 33, was driving a Honda Pilot SUV going westbound when the vehicle wafted onto the shoulder and then veered into the opposite lane. CHP officials said.

Nieto has been arrested on suspicion of DUI, child endangerment, and vehicular manslaughter.

Officials also documented that Neito's vehicle crashed with a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado that was driving in the eastbound direction, at speeds of 55 and 60 miles per hour.

The investigation showed that the 8-year-old child did not have a seatbelt on, during the crash she was pronounced deceased, at the scene.

The other occupants in the mother's vehicle included a boy age 12, and a female 5 years old who sustained serious injuries, both were rushed to Riverside County Regional Medical Center.

Nieto was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center with severe injuries.

The driver, in the Silverado, a 46-year-old male, and a woman age 43- suffered serious injuries, along with a child age 12, who was diagnosed with non-life-threatening injuries, and were also transported to Inland Valley Medical Center. CHP said.
