 Update

On February 4th, 2024 at 12:33 pm, a Greater Alarm Structure Fire with the code name NOCKDOWN #EagleRock occurred at 4404 E Toland Pl. Firefighters were called to respond to an ascending hillside two-story home with an attic converted to a living space. Although crews were able to access the structure, advance hose lines, and achieve roof ventilation, excessive storage inside fueled a rapidly growing fire, which forced firefighters to retreat into defensive mode and fight from the exterior only. The structure was unfortunately a total loss, but firefighters were able to successfully defend the nearby vegetation and adjacent homes. Luckily, both residents and their canines were able to escape without harm. However, they will be displaced and the Red Cross is responding to assist them. LAFD will issue a SAVE card (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency) to provide some financial assistance. 74 firefighters were involved in the operation and it took them 57 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
