Rapper ASAP Rocky Has Been Formally Charged With Assault For The November Shooting

LOS ANGELES —Rakim Athelaston Mayers, known in the music industry as rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested on Wednesday, April 20, at Los Angeles International airport, surrounding the shooting incident that occurred on November 6, 2021. Upon additional investigation, Mayers was officially charged with assault with a deadly weapon, on Monday, August 15, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.

In a statement released by, D A Gascón, the statement indicates that “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood. My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”

According to the victim's attorneys, and case reports, the victim, a business associate, and friend of Mayers, claimed that Mayers lured the victim to a location in Hollywood, and upon arrival, the defendant produced a firearm, after a verbal exchange of words, without forewarning, or any reason, and Mayers purposely fired several shots at the victim Mr. Ephron.

Mayers is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, He faces up to nine years in prison if convicted.
