LOS ANGELES-British and American actress Angela Lansbury, 96, known as crime novelist Jessica Fletcher, of the TV series “Murder, She Wrote,” died on Tuesday, October 11, at her suburban residence in Los Angeles, Lansburys' death was announced via a statement from her three children.
Lansburys' had a successful career for 80 years, she was a household inspiration to murder mystery buffs, and others who tuned in every Sunday night to watch her solve numerous murders.
Lansbury graced the stage of Broadway taking home five Tony Awards for her Broadway performances and a lifetime achievement award. Lansbury won an Academy Award nomination for her roles as a supporting actress in the films, Gaslight (1945) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (1946).
She began her career in 1948, at age 23, cast as Tracy in State of the Union. Lansbury can also be seen in the New York theater, earning Tony Awards for Mame (1966), and Dear World (1969) just to name a few.
Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury was born on October 16, 1925, in Regent's Park, London, and is survived by family friends, and fans.
