Canine influenza and other animal viruses are on the rise

PET HESLTH-If adopting a dog is on your gift-giving list this year, be aware that several animal shelters suspend dog adoptions due to Canine Pneumovirus and cases of the dog flu.

There is a canine-influenza vaccine, however, there is no vaccination for Pneumovirus.

Warning signs of your pet's illness may include difficulty breathing, refusing food, coughing, sneezing, and runny nose, contact your veterinarian.

According to reports from the CDC, canine influenza is a “contagious respiratory infection that primarily affects dogs, caused by specific Type A influenza”
