The Groundhog Day Tradition

Every year on February 2, millions of people wake up enthusiastically to learn if a groundhog, has seen its shadow. If the groundhog sees its shadow, be prepared to stay warm for six more additional weeks of wintertime. If the groundhog doe not sees its shadow grab your beach gear because spring is near.

The (Marmota monax), also known as a groundhog and a woodchuck, is a large rodent of the Sciuridae family. Groundhogs are a group of huge ground squirrels known as marmots. They are lowland critters seen in North America; the Eastern United States, Canada, and Alaska.
