Deputy Calhoun of The Riverside Sheriff's Department, Laid to Rest

Today Deputy Calhoun of The Riverside Sheriff's Department is being laid to rest, services will be held at Abundant Living Family Church, 10900 Civic Center Drive, in Rancho Cucamonga, at 10 a.m.,

Deputy Calhoun lost his life on Friday, January 13, 2023, during an incident at the scene of a call regarding a domestic violence child custody issue in Lake Elsinore.

Investigators indicate that when Deputy Calhoun approached the residence on the 18500 block of Hilldale Lane, 42-year-old Jesse Navarro allegedly opened gunfire, hitting Calhoun.

When backup officers arrived at the scene, another deputy witnessed Calhoun in the street and a gunfight transpired between the second deputy and the suspect. The suspect was shot and transported to Inland Valley Medical Center and is in critical condition. Deputy, Calhoun passed away from gunshot injuries at the hospital. 

The 30-year-old deputy leaves behind a pregnant wife and two sons, four and two years old.
