LAPD Arrest Murder Suspect

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide Division announced the arrest of Richard Lara a man identified as the suspect responsible for a victim's murder that took place near the 9800 block of South Broadway, police say.

 According to officers on Saturday evening, February 4, 2023, the victim and suspect left their home together and walked to a neighborhood mart. After the couple shopped, the victim returned to their residence.

 Police said when Lara returned home, a verbal spat occurred between the suspect and the victim, and then both parties became involved in a physical fight which led to the victim’s murder. The suspect exited the scene before authorities arrived.

The victim and the suspect were in a relationship for approximately 13 years and currently living together with their two children, authorities said.

Members of the LAPD'S Gang and Narcotics Division located and arrested 38-year-old, Richard Lara on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in Los Angeles. Lara was booked for 187(a) PC Murder.

Thursday, February 9, 2023, This case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, officials said.
