LA County expected to start emergency motel voucher program, amid weather conditions

Los Angeles County announced on Tuesday, officials will act on its emergency storm season motel voucher program, to help with the immense undertaking of housing needs for individuals and families living on the streets, as a storm is expected to strike  Los Angeles and Ventura counties and other areas in Southern California.

Officials say there are just 509 emergency vouchers available and an estimated 55,000 citizens reside on the streets.  

The Los Angeles County Coroner reported that 14 homeless people died from hypothermia while living on the streets in 2022.
