FDA Takes Action to Restrict Unlawful Import of Xylazine animal tranquilizer
On February 28, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported that it has taken action to limit the unlawful entry of xylazine active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage form drug products into the nation to manage a growing public health affair.
The chemical xylazine has increasingly been discovered in illicit drugs such as illicitly manufactured fentanyl and other drugs and has progressively been seen in overdose deaths.
This action strives to stop the drug from entering the United States market for illicit intents while keeping its availability for legitimate uses in animals.
