Lucasfilm Sued by Former Producer for Breach of Contract on 'Star Wars Series 'The Acolyte'
Lucasfilm studio is encountering a lawsuit over the franchise. Attorneys for producer Karyn McCarthy filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm over McCarthy's release from the upcoming Disney+ “Star Wars” dramatization “The Acolyte,” Deadline is saying.
As stated in court filings acquired by Deadline and submitted to the LA Superior Court on Tuesday, March 7, McCarthy's former producing credits include “House of Cards” “Ballers,” and “Insecure,” — is suing for breach of contract over her firing from “The Acolyte,” an upcoming “Star Wars” series created by Leslie Headland.
The actual monetary damages requested for Lucasfilm’s alleged “bad faith and wrongful termination.”
Lucasfilm declined to comment. In a statement to IndieWire, Robert Allen one of McCarthy’s lawyers referred to the lawsuit as a “last resort” after a “bizarre and unfounded termination.”
