On Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Hollywood icon Dick Van Dyke was involved in a minor single-vehicle crash on March 15.

According to People, Van Dyke was driving a 2018 silver Lexus LS 500 when he lost control of the vehicle due to wet roads and crashed into a gate.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene as a precaution and an accident report were taken; however, no drugs or alcohol were found to be factors in the incident.

It is reported that Van Dyke bled from his nose and mouth after the incident and may have had a concussion; fortunately, he received treatment from paramedics.

To ensure safety for future travels, police requested that Van Dyke retake his DMV test given his advanced age. Just last month, at 97 years old, the star of Mary Poppins became the oldest contestant ever on FOX's The Masked Singer series premiere.

Dick Van Dyke has earned a significant place in show business history for his role on the CBS series "The Dick Van Dyke Show" in the early 1960s. He further cemented his legacy with standout performances in movies such as 1963's "Bye Bye Birdie," 1964's "Mary Poppins" and 1968's "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." He won an Emmy for each of those iconic roles, plus another Emmy for writing, and one Grammy as well. More recently, in 2018 he made a special appearance as a dancer onscreen once more in the acclaimed sequel movie, "Mary Poppins Returns."
