Snowpack meltdown in the Sierra Nevada threatens to flood, areas in Los Angeles

Over a month ago and after heavy rain storms deteriorated areas of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, work teams are still racing to finish off repairs and flood protection while facing a week of heat waves that imperil to spur snowmelt in the Sierra Nevada.

Historical levels of snowpack in the Eastern Sierra are predicted to melt into runoff that is 225% of normal, which indicates about 326 billion gallons of water need to be attended to, DWP officials declared.
