Anthony Rauda, a 46-year-old man who fatally shot a research scientist in his sleep at Malibu Creek State Park, was sentenced on Wednesday to 142 years to life in prison. Rauda was convicted on May 26 of second-degree murder for the killing of Tristan Beaudette while he camped with his two young daughters. In addition, he was found guilty on three counts of attempted murder, including two involving the children, and five counts of second-degree commercial burglary. Although seven other attempted murder charges were brought against him, jurors ultimately acquitted Rauda.
