On July 12, 2023, at 7:03pm, Los Angeles' firefighters battled a fire that erupted on 7764 W Hollywood Blvd, officials categorized the incident as a Major Emergency fire.
When firefighters responded at the scene two cars ablaze in an apartment carport escalated into heavy tlames fueled by the California breeze, which extended to two of the three side-by-side apartment buildings, including the central two-story, 18,900 square foot behemoth. The fire took over the large common attic and on the second-floor apartments, that sustained structural damage and partially collapsed under the intense heat.
A crew of 126 firefighters bolstered by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, extinguished the fire in 102 minutes, from 5:21 PM to 7:03 PM,.. The fire, advanced to the attic of the identical apartment buildings to the east, causing severe damage.
The three-story apartment building further east, at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Genesee Avenue, was spared from the flames, sustaining only smoke damage.
A woman with mobility challenges was trapped on the second floor of the burning building. But ,LAFD rescued her. She was assesed in fair condition but suffered smoke exposure She is now being treated at a local hospital.
An LAFD Firefighter, sustained a hand laceration and.treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under active investigation.
