It has been announced on Paul Reubens' verified social media account that the beloved actor, comedian, writer, and producer, famous for his quirky character Pee-wee Herman, passed away on Sunday, July 30, at the age of 70.

The post pays tribute to Reubens for bringing joy to generations with his positive and whimsical portrayal of Pee-wee Herman and for his belief in the importance of kindness.

The statement also mentions that Reubens fought cancer with tenacity and wit, keeping his struggle private. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will always be remembered as a treasured friend with remarkable character and generosity of spirit.

Reubens was born in Peekskill, New York, and raised in Sarasota, Florida. He had a strong passion for comedy from a young age, which he partially attributed to Sarasota being the winter residence of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum Circus.

The Los Angeles News has reached out to Reubens' representative for further comment. This is a developing story and updates will follow.
