A pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train in North Hollywood

A pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train #794 in North Hollywood on September 1, 2023, at 9:38 p.m. The incident occurred on Sherman Rd, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where an approximately 50-year-old woman was hit by the southbound train. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The San Diego-bound passenger train was forced to make an emergency stop and remained east of the location. The train crew and approximately 116 passengers were unharmed and are being held on board the train until the LAPD investigators release the train. The LAPD Valley Traffic Division #4497, Medical Examiner, and Amtrak are investigating the incident.
