Gladstone’s on Sunset and Pacific Coast Highway is set to close After 50 years, the iconic eatery is said to close its doors on September 15, 2023. the date a concessions agreement with the county expires.

The concession agreement was with the restaurant’s former owner, Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, who died in April. Riordan was the 39th mayor of Los Angeles from 1993 to 2001.

Five years ago Puck submitted a request to the county to take over the location. Puck will team up with architect Frank Gehry to construct an altogether new look for the restaurant with design features including a public deck, a  to-go order walkup window, and a Big Blue Bus Stop  to provide more access to the beach.

If agreements go as planned, demolition will begin in 2024.  The restaurant is named Gladstone’s Malibu, however, it's in Pacific Palisades.
