Family says victim was killed when motorist was chased by a former girlfriend near Compton

COMPTON-victim's family is mourning the death of a woman killed in an auto accident involving a fire truck near Compton.

Asia Allen-Bookman, 25, and a friend were killed in the collision on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. According to officers, the initial report indicated Two people died after an alleged street racing incident in the Compton area, but the victim's family said her friend's ex-girlfriend was chasing them. The crash was caught by surveillance video near the location.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m., at the intersection of Avalon and Compton Boulevards. A PT Cruiser crashed with the fire truck,  Four fire officials were assessed with minor injuries.
Allen-Bookman and the male motorist were pronounced deceased at the scene.

 Allen-Bookman is survived by a 3-year-old. There is no immediate information on the male victim.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with Allen-Bookman's funeral expenses.
