Pacoima-LAFD Paramedics en route to a medical emergency got hit by a driver operating a pickup truck at the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and San Fernando Road.
The collision occurred today at 12:35 a.m., at 13260 W Van Nuys Blvd., in Pacoima. According to officials, the pickup continued traveling until it collided with a utility pole close to where it struck the ambulance.
The occupants in the truck were described as two adult men, who became entrapped in the vehicle and required extraction. They were then assessed in acute condition. and taken to an area hospital.
Two LAFD Paramedics freed themselves from their ambulance, both suffered minor to moderate injuries, and were transported to a local hospital in satisfactory condition. There were no other injuries reported. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, there is currently no report of whether alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The initial medical crisis was handled by a separate Paramedic rescue unit.
