Police arrest a 17-year-old in a dirt bike collision that killed 3-year-old, and injured a Mom in Riverside County

MEAD VALLEY -A 3-year-old victim was killed and her mom was hurt after a teenage suspect riding a dirt bike collided with them in Riverside County, police said.
The incident occurred on August 31, in the vicinity of Mead Valley, the California Highway Patrol says. The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old from Perris who was riding along Steele Peak Drive near Palm Street when he crashed with the young child riding her bicycle as her mom strolled next to the child.
According to Officers, the suspect exited the scene without rendering help to both victims.
The 3-year-old was rushed to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. Her mom was evaluated with mild injuries.
The 17-year-old was taken into custody on Friday, The California Highway Patrol said. He was booked into the Riverside Juvenile Hall on charges of hit-and-run causing deadly injuries and manslaughter.
