CHP DEPLOYS STREET RACING AND SIDESHOW ENFORCEMENT OPERATION IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY

GLENDALE–Over the weekend of September 8th and 9th, 2023, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Southern Division Street Racing Enforcement Unit (SREU) conducted two separate street racing operations in response to a social media-promoted event. 

The operations aimed to suppress street racing and sideshow activities in the Compton area. As a result, 72 citations were issued, 40 vehicles were impounded or stored, and 65 arrests were made on those who participated in or spectated at the sideshow/street racing event. Two individuals were also arrested for illegal gun possession, and one person was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (ADW) on a police officer using a vehicle.
