September is National Chicken Month, a time to celebrate this popular meat in the United States. It's interesting to note that two-thirds of U.S. chickens are raised in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Texas. In addition to being a staple in American diets, U.S. chicken meat is also a significant agricultural export for our nation.
The U.S. chicken industry relies on foreign markets for growth and success. In 2022 alone, exports accounted for $4.4 billion and represented 16 percent of global production. This makes the United States the world's second-largest exporter of chicken products.
It's remarkable to see that U.S. frozen chicken leg quarters, legs, and thighs were imported from more than 145 countries last year. This highlights the widespread popularity and demand for American poultry around the globe.
Let's cheer for National Chicken Month and recognize the vital role that chicken plays in both our domestic consumption and international trade! Please click here to read more >>
