Suspect Arrested for suspicion of shooting incident on Highway 14 Antelope Valley

Antelope  Valley— A man from Palmdale man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder After witnesses reported shots were fired on Highway 14 close to Newhall Avenue. The California Highway Patrol’s in Newhall said.

According to authorities, The incident transpired at roughly 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Two automobiles were involved in the incident. The victim's vehicle was described as a black Nissan Sentra, which was first reported as a gray, or brown, the suspect was driving a Dodge Durango.

The victim who reported the shooting was contacted by CHP,  when officers arrived at the scene on Ward Road, east of Highway 14,  the victim was not injured, but the vehicle appeared to have three bullet holes.

Additional witnesses and the victim provided officers with a license plate number which led officers to locate the suspect's address.

The Palmdale Sheriff’s saw the suspect's Durango parked at his home near the corner of 40th Street East and Avenue R, but the suspect started to drive away. Sheriff’s Deputies followed the vehicle and executed a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The vehicle was occupied by an adult male, and an adult female, and two kids, who were detained by officers. The adults were held for questioning, During the investigation the evidence obtained by authorities led to the arrest of the 24-year-old male on suspicion of attempted murder. According to public records, the suspect was held on$2 million bail.

The victim's name and age were not immediately released, no one else was reported injured. No firearm was recovered inside  the vehicle, police say.
