Army private,Travis King, who traveled to North Korea, charged with desertion

23-year-old Travis King, the Army Private who traveled across the border into North Korea “willfully and without authorization” according to officials, and returned to the United States in September, has been charged with desertion, according to military charging documents a source close to the case shared with ABC News on Thursday. Additionally, King faces 7 other charges, including possessing child pornography and numerous assaults, according to the documents.

The Army confirmed on Friday, October 20, 2023, that King has violated the military’s judicial code, but declined to comment on the facts of the matter, citing King's privacy.
