The documentary, titled "The Only Girl in the Orchestra," is directed by Molly O'Brien, executive produced by Errol Morris, and produced by Lisa Remington, Molly O'Brien, and Katy Beal (co-producer). It has a running time of 34 minutes and can be found on the DOC NYC website.

The film tells the story of Orin O'Brien, a double bassist who never sought the spotlight but became the focus of much interest and fascination when Leonard Bernstein hired her in 1966 as the first female musician in the New York Philharmonic. Now 87 years old and recently retired, Orin looks back on her remarkable life and career, insisting that a fuss should not be made. She much prefers to play a supporting role to the family, students, friends, and colleagues that surround her.

Molly O'Brien beautifully captures her aunt Orin's prodigious contributions as a musician, as well as her unique philosophy that the key to enjoying life is to play second fiddle.

Orin's musical genius cannot be expressed in words. It is an artistry of harmonious talent that is truly remarkable, I express my admiration for Orin's achievements.
