A significant earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck the coastal area of Mindanao Philippines in Manila, Philippines, on Saturday night. As a precautionary measure, local authorities issued a tsunami warning.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 10:37 p.m., reaching a depth of 32 kilometers (20 miles). Thankfully, there have been no reports of any immediate damage or casualties.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has predicted that based on the magnitude and location of the earthquake, there may be tsunami waves affecting parts of Indonesia, Palau, and Malaysia as well as southern regions of the Philippines.
