Mookie Betts scoops up luxury Digs for $15 million

Mookie Betts, a well-known MLB player and Dodgers outfielder, has recently purchased a luxurious $15 million estate located in the hills of Encino. The property spans approximately 9,300 square feet and has a Mediterranean villa-style. The purchase is one of the most significant deals ever reported in Encino.

The estate was originally constructed in 1986 and was acquired by local developer Jeff Huberts and his team of Sandlot Homes for around $6.8 million last year. They then gave the whole property a contemporary remodel. Unfortunately, as the property was never on the market and is still in the final stages of construction, there are currently no public photos of the premises. The little information available about the place comes from tax records and L.A. permit archives. The estate has eight bedrooms, 10.5 bathrooms, a three-car garage, and the tri-level structure offers stunning views of the valley from its location at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac.

The property is nestled behind gates and a long driveway, offering approximately 2.2 acres of land, with a large portion of it being steeply sloped and therefore unusable. The estate also features a newly remodeled rectangular swimming pool, an outdoor spa, and a full-size tennis court. Additionally, a guard shack for a full-time armed bodyguard stands at the base of the estate, immediately adjoining the driveway gate. However, most of the mansion's interior amenities remain a mystery.

Betts already owns a smaller house in the Encino area, which he put up for sale almost a year ago for $10 million. He purchased it in fall 2020 for $7.6 million from UCLA Bruins head coach Chip Kelly and has since added custom upgrades, including an indoor basketball court with "MB" initials. The house is still on the market, with a reduced price tag of $8.5 million.

Betts, who is originally from Nashville, is reportedly a distant cousin of Meghan Markle. The 31-year-old and his wife Brianna Hammonds have been primarily living in Los Angeles since the summer of 2020, after he signed a $365 million contract extension with the Dodgers.
