At 12:18 PM, today, the ground and air response team from LAFD arrived at 15100 W Parthenia Street to find an abandoned vehicle in the narrow flood control channel that runs through the area. The vehicle appeared to have been washed downstream and was unoccupied and previously damaged. The channel contained approximately 3 feet of swift-moving water. As the first responders secured the vehicle, their colleagues searched downstream by ground and air to ensure that no one had been swept away in the current. The channel leads to the much larger and at times treacherous Pacoima Wash.
Update 12:53 PM
Following a comprehensive LAFD ground and air search of the location and areas downstream, no victims were found. The incident has been categorized as a false alarm, and all LAFD units are now being made available to handle other emergencies.
