January 5, 2024 – Applications Due for DOE’s WAP Enhancement & Innovation Competitive Grant
The Department of Energy (DOE) is offering a grant called the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) competitive grant for Enhancement and Innovation. The grant provides $25 million in funding for WAP Grantees and Subgrantees (state, local, or Tribal governments) and non-profit organizations. The maximum award amount is $2 million. The aim of the grant is to expand the impact of DOE's existing residential weatherization programs. The program should utilize leveraged resources and enhanced community partnerships to perform deep energy retrofits of low-income residential buildings. It should also empower local community representation within the energy workforce.
DOE is looking for proposals that drive innovative approaches to program coordination and service delivery while fostering the collaboration of dynamic and diverse teams. The grant is divided into three topic areas: Multifamily Housing; Single Family and Manufactured Housing; and Workforce Development. The DOE is looking for projects that demonstrate their potential to be scaled nationally. The proposals should enhance the benefits realized by underserved communities and accelerate an equitable transition to a clean-energy economy.
The deadline to apply for the grant is January 5, 2024.
