The United States Department of Labor has recently issued a rule aimed at establishing a clear framework for determining whether a worker should be classified as an employee or an independent contractor under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Independent contractors are vital to the economy, and this rule does not seek to undermine their role. Instead, the primary objective is to ensure that employees are entitled to receive the legal protections and benefits they are entitled to.
