Man shot while using female restroom

A suspect shot and pistol-whipped a male victim after he used a ladies’ bathroom at a park in Southern California on Saturday, January 27, 2024, as reported by the [Sacramento Bee]

The victim told the police he attempted to use the males’s lavatory at Sylvan Park in Redlands, but it was full.

He then chose to use the women’s washroom. While in the women’s bathroom, two girls entered and then exited, the victim informed authorities.

Then as the man left the restroom, two individuals came up to the victim. One of the people shot the victim in the lower extremity and struck him in the head with the firearm.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the location in a silver SUV. A police officer found the SUV and conducted a traffic stop, the suspect tossed a revolver out of the automobile, police said.

Officials arrested the gunman identified as 33-year-old Rudy Daniel Vasquez. Police also arrested a female.

The suspect faces a charge of attempted murder. Police forwarded accomplice charges against the female to the District Attorney’s Office in the county of San Bernadino.
