Flooding in Long Beach closes streets, delays traffic

LONG BEACH-Massive Flooding closed down parts. of the 710 Freeway in Long Beach, at Pacific Coast Highway at approximately 10 a.m.

Weather forecasters announced a major flash flood warning at about 8:30 a.m. for the Port of Los Angeles,

South Bay region, as well as Torrance, Harbor City, Long Beach, Palos Verdes, and Carson.

The lanes of the freeway were closed until LAFD assisted with the removal of vehicles that were stuck in the flood. Drivers managed to self-evacuate before officials arrived.

The area close to Del Amo Boulevard and the 710 Freeway were affected by flood waters, according to police.

Rain poured in various areas of the southland between 1 and 1.5 inches per hour, until 11:45 a.m.
